How Does Your Dry Cleaner Clean Your Clothes?
The most common process to Professionally clean garments is Wetcleaning and Dry cleaning. Dry cleaning is carried out in different types of solvents like Petroleum Solvent : Valclean, MTO, Pure Dry, DF2000 etc…Chlorinated Solvents: Perchloroethylene, Trichloroethylene etc…and the newer solvents like Rynex, n-Propylbromide, GreenEarth, Liquid Carbon Dioxide etc… Dry cleaning is recommended for garments that are likely to loose color or shape in the cleaning process and maintains the "Like New" appearance of the garments.

Professional Wetcleaning is the most effective environmentally friendly cleaning process without the risk due to harsh chemicals. All the chemicals used are biodegradable and environment friendly. With the arrival of new Professional Wetcleaning Chemicals, and equipment most garments that required Dry Cleaning can now be safely Wetcleaned without any danger of loss of color, shape or texture. What is Dry Cleaning?
Dry cleaning uses solvents to remove soil and stains from fabric. In fact, the term "dry cleaning" is misleading; it is called dry cleaning because the fluid contains little or no water and does not penetrate and swell the fibers as water does.

Among the advantages of dry cleaning is its ability to dissolve grease and oils in a way that water cannot. Dry cleaning helps to return garments to a "like-new" condition using precautions to prevent shrinkage, loss of color, and fabric distortion.

The dry cleaning process begins with spotting: the pretreatment of spots and stains using special spotting chemicals. The garments are then loaded into a machine resembling an oversized front-loading home washer. Throughout the cleaning process the fluid is continuously filtered and periodically distilled to remove suspended and dissolved soils of the cleaned garments.

Today, the solvent used by almost 90% of all dry cleaners is Perchloroethylene, commonly known as "Perc." It is completely non-flammable and non-combustible, of relatively low toxicity, and can be efficiently reused and recycled.

Is your Dry Cleaner Environmental Friendly?
With stricter Environmental laws your Dry Cleaner has had to change. The traditional solvent of choice was one of the various Petroleum solvents, However because these solvents are flammable and result in depletion of our natural resources there was a shift to the Chlorinated solvents which are non flammable and have excellent properties for Dry Cleaning. Recent studies have indicated that these solvents have ozone depletion properties besides they may have some harmful effect on human health, this has resulted in a shift to the newer solvents like Rynex, GreenEarth and Liquid Carbon dioxide and to Professional Wetcleaning.
